Below are some animations I created for a Flames opener that I made for the team. The clips below are cut from the video, are in GIF format and have no sound. Please click here for higher quality renders.

The idea of the video was to mash up a montage built around the Alberta wilderness, wildlife, the moon and the team. There have been a lot of animal references with Flames players lately, and that was a huge inspiration. For example, Yegor Sharangovich’s nickname is Sharky, Dan Vladar made a scorpion save, Nazam Kardi recently called the team a pack of hyenas, and Blake Coleman’s father called him the Texas Tiger. All of these have been incorporated into the opening video and play off the spirit of being wild.

I played around with the AI website Replicate to create some cool animations from photoshopped files. This effect was used on the Conner Zary and Blake Coleman animations. It builds off the design to create frames and make it an animated clip.

The glowing eyes were rotoscoped in using After Effects and VC Saber. The colour grade was inspired by the film The Lighthouse and old black and white horror movies. I really when aggressive on the curves to create that inverted effect.

A big thank you to Geordie Macleod, Austin Shaw, Riley Jans, Carlo Petrini, and Peter Stewart for the support, direction, and guidance. Credit goes to Pam Petrini for the amazing sound effects, mixing, and mastering.
