My wife recently bought an XT4 and on a whim I ended up buying a used X100V with a low shutter count the same day. These are some of my favourite capture from NYC. All of the photos are JPGs with baked in recipes. The only edits in post I did was cropping, some light dodging and burning and a little bit of cleaning up. The shot of MSG was stitched together in Lightroom as a panorama.
Before the trip I was on the fence about keeping it as I’m a big Canon fan boy and love shooting full-frame. During my time in New York I really got to focus on it and I really like it. The small size of the camera and the idea of shooting JPGs like film is really growing on me. I do wish the auto focus was faster and it was a fixed F 1.2 but that’s me getting nit picky. Oh… and the app sucks big time, what a mess!
The most surprising feature of the camera is the digital zoom. At first I hated it and tried turning it off. Later on during the trip I decided to start using it as a feature. I figured I would be let down but I was actually really blown away from the final images. From what I can tell the camera up scales the photos to fit the native resolution and it looks really good.
New York is an amazing city and I’m blessed I got to spend my time there with this beautiful piece of tech.
