In August of 2019 I upgraded my main camera to the Canon EOS R. The amazing thing about going mirrorless is the ability to use older lenses by taking advantage of the focus peaking system built inside the camera. All of the photos were shot with a Helios 44-2, an old Russian lens that features a swirling bokeh effect. The lens renders the image amazingly giving it a unique retro-cinematic vibe. Keep in mind the lens is manual focus and features heavy vignetting, light leaks and heavy flailing. I spent less than $50 on this beauty!
I took my first test shots at Heritage Park in early September. The day was spent capturing portraits of the loveable volunteers and details around the park.
All of the photos were edited with a custom Lightroom preset I created. You can download it for free here. Be sure to use the hashtag #Heritage403 so I can see your work!
