Mr. Hoppy

Mr. Hoppy

I was commissioned by Alberta Beer Festivals to animate their Hoppy Pass logo. The logo features a character mid-walk holding a beer. The goal was to have him walk on screen and toast the camera. I added details such as his leafs shaking as he walked, Hoppy grabbing the beer and the glass filling up.

Originally I was going to add sound effects but I found that his movements timed up to accents in a music track worked better. My inspiration was John Travolta’s famous strut in the intro to Saturday Night Fever. I feel that the music complements the character very well and does a fun job bringing him to life.

Below is a little bit of a behind the scenes on how I animated Hoppy.
